School of Economics and Management originated from the major of Agricultural Information set up in 1985 which was renamed the specialty of Economic Information Management and followed by the establishment of the Department of ManagementInformation (Co-located with the former Department of Basic Education) in 1992; In 1995, it was independently established and renamed the Department of Information Management; the School of Information Engineering and Management was established In July, 2001 and renamed School of Economics and Management in July, 2006.
At present, there are seven undergraduate majorsin Information Management and Information System, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resource Management, Logistics Management, International Economy and Trade, andFinancial Science and Technology, two academic master's programs in Agricultural and Forestry Economic Management and Food Marketing Engineering, and two professional master's programs in Rural Development and International Business. At the same time, it co-cultivates doctoral students in Management and master students in Management, Economics and Accounting with Sumey National Agricultural University of Ukraine. There are 9 teaching and research sections, including Information Management and Information System, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resource Management, Logistics Management, International Trade, Financial Science and Technology, Economics and Management; It has a provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center (under the jurisdiction of the central laboratory and 10 professional laboratories includingInformation Technology, E-commerce, ERP and Sand Table, Financial Accounting, Business Simulation Operation, Human Resource Management, and so on) with a total value of teaching instruments and equipment of more than 10 million yuan.
There are 97 full-time teachers, including 41 professors and associate professors (1 distinguished professor) ; Among these academic teachers, more than 28 ( including PhD candidates )have doctor degree. 1 of them is “National Excellent Teacher”, 2 of them are “ProvincialExcellent Teacher”, 2 of them are “Provincial Civilized Teacher”, 5 of them are “Academic and Technical Leader” of Henan Provincial Department of education, 5 of them are “Provincial Young and Middle-aged Backbone Teacher”, 1 of them is “Excellent Education Management Talent” of Henan Provincial Department of education, 4 of them are “College-levelTop Ten Teacher”and 10 of them are “college-levelYoung and Middle-aged Backbone Teacher”. Well-known experts and scholars from Nankai University, Wuhan University, Renmin University of China, New York City University, General Manager of Jinpeng Futures Company and other well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad have been invited as part-time professors or visiting professors. At present, there are more than 2340 full-time students, with the largest number of students as secondary teaching college. Adhering to the discipline construction as the leader, it has formed a discipline layout of complementary and comprehensive development of management and economics, and built two school level key disciplines of Business Administration and Applied Economics and two excellent scientific and technological innovation teams of Enterprise Management and Talent Development and Rural Revitalization. It has established the Grand Canal Basin (Henan Section) Culture and Rural Industry Revitalization Research Center, Urban and Regional Development Research Center, Rnterprise Strategic Management Research Institute, Industrial Innovation and Rural Revitalization Strategy Research Center. Over the past five years, there have been more than 600 academic papers published, more than 50 works and teaching materials come out, and more than 50 scientific research projects undergone, winning over 2 million yuan of scientific research funds. It was awarded 8 provincial and ministerial projects and more than 70 departmental projects.Students won one national silver award in the 10th "Challenge Cup" College Students' Entrepreneurship plan competition, more than 10 National College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship projects and 33 college-level projects.
The School of Economics and Management emphasizes the Quality-oriented strategy, strengthens the construction, and improves the education and teaching quality comprehensively. In recent years, it has won 1 award for national high-quality resource sharing course, 2 for provincial high-quality courses, 2 for provincial high-quality online courses, 2 for provincial first-class courses, 2 for provincial characteristic majors, 1 for provincial experimental teaching demonstration center and 1 for provincial virtual simulation teaching platform. Three books were issued under general editorship, among which one is of the 12th Five Year Plan of Henan Province and the other two of the 14th five-year plan of Henan Province. In talent training, it insists on the principle of paying equal attention to theory and practice. It also strives for training higher compound applied talents by constructing a serial of practical teaching system, including class-centered case teaching, split teaching, cognitive practice, comprehensive skill training, academic year thesis and graduation practice.
Since its founding, theSchool of Economics and Management has cultivated more than 8000 professional and technical personnel in different areas. Most graduates work in urban agglomeration and related industrial clusters, including Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Beijing Tianjin, Suzhou, Hangzhou and central Henan. In the past three years, both the number and quality of postgraduates have significantly improved. Among them, more than 100 students have been admitted by famous universities such as Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, Nankai University, Huazhong University of science and technology, Wuhan University, Chongqing University, Shandong University and Sichuan University. Graduates, making positive contributions to reginal economic and social development as well as wining a good reputation for the school, work for different posts such as administrative management, scientific research, economic construction, education and teaching.
Keeping the pace with the times, the School of Economics and Management will comprehensively implement the educational guidelines formulated by the party and the educational concept of "building morality, cultivating people, undergraduate education centered, putting moral education first and focusing on ability". It will also adhere to the discipline of "close knowledge, close benevolence and governing the country through the world". Guided by discipline construction and market demand, it will further deepen the innovation and reform of the training mode of new liberal arts, economics and management talents.
